 The only gift 

I would give you 

if I could 

is love

anything else 

is a cup of tea 

on a table 

beside a chair 

Cheese

 Grated cheese has to pass

through the holes

that’s the only way 

it can be what it is

Despite taking all the steps 

I don’t arrive at my destination 

there are many excellent reasons 

and explanations 

was I not facing north

should it be September 

or April 

maybe I started from my destination 

and have been walking steadily 

step by step 

away from it
